Music you need to check out

Archie and the Bunkers... couple of teenage kids in Ohio. Elements of Misfits, Pere Ubu, White Stripes, and a few others but still their own sound. These guys are goooood...

Well, I will need to say a couple of things about that.  Firstly, Jay, you're my boy no doubt, I recognize your music interests are select, but 4 sure you like what you like.  I've never quite been able to quantify it, based solely on your year of birth and the geographic culture of your upbringing.  But I would think that Alice Cooper was who you were head bangin' to at teenage basement parties and potentially slam dancin' while fellow students were getting laid in the back seat of their Pintos .

The second thing is I did see your video on Social Media where you did Karaoke to a specific song at an AVN party, my only thought was, "my boy Jay is a bad dude!", "Jay is a bad mutha!"

So, now that we're clear on that, I will say this, your track ... I dig it, those dudes are slam jammin'. micro slammin'!  What they doing firstly is throw-back, 'Cheap Trick', 'Talking Heads', 'The Romanes', 'Blondie', punk groups like 'Iggy Pop', 'Sex Pistols', etc, and everything to come after that.  It's slam dunkin' jive funkin' and  a starbucks latte on the top, to go ...

The cool thing is they are using ONLY a keyboard and a drummer!  Kudos to you my brutha, those are some bad young dudes, you are the man, and a good time was had by all.  If you want me to pontificate I will ...

Haha... you always bring me a smile man. That was a great post. Well... I'm kinda old, but not as old as you think possibly lol. I'll be 50 this year so my teenage years were completely in the 80s and all of them in Minnesota. I was headbanging to Dead Kennedys, Black Flag, Circle Jerks and Minor Threat. I was also a big fan of local(ish) groups like Husker Du, Prince, Violent Femmes and similar. And it was the back seat of an oldsmobile ;)

And glad you liked my karaoke rendition of "Time is running out" by Muse. I had so much fun that night.

Yeah I get that these kids aren't really putting out anything new here... BUT... the fact that they are paying such homage to some very classic shit and are only 2 kids and were both born after 2000 totally ups their cool factor no matter what. My son was fed a steady diet of Beatles, Ramones, Nirvana, and other great music in the hopes that important stuff didn't end with my generation in my family. He hates punk rock though and listens to his music at about 1/4 the volume that I do... which kinda sucks.

I thought that was pretty good.  For me, I heard a blend of The Animals, and even some B52s in there.

so I went to a Frank Zappa concert...you know with Jimmy Carl Black....and there was a folk singer no one had ever heard of opening the show.  She was late and people were impatient.  Finally, the lights dimmed.  Then, in a blaze of light and smoke  the "folk singer' crashed onto the stage in full glam make up.  It was Alice Cooper.  The crowd roared.  What a night.

Yep, I agree.  Not many people remember the 'The Animals', I thought they were progressive for their time and Eric Burden certainly continued to grow after the group disbanded, remember that's him on 'Low Rider'.

I had a very close friend who passed away when he was only 45, he played drums on 'Stop, Emergency', which was an album I used to see advertised all the time, but never bought it.  One night I was hanging out with him at his house and he went on to mention he worked with War and Eric Burden when he lived in LA, then he played me the disc.  Pretty cool stuff for those of you that like rock and roll.

That and Peter Paul and Mary completely takes me back to my first memories in the early 70s.

I kind of came into this thread thinking I would laugh at Jay's ideas for a band. But not too bad. They have this garage vibe that is awesome.

I sewe they are on Amazon Music too.

There are a few songs that take me back to precise moments I can remember as a very young child.

Johnny Nash - I can see clearly now

Steelers Wheel - Stuck in the middle with you

Threee Dog Night - Shambala, Black and White, Joy to the World

Partridge Family - I think I love you

Mom had a lot of 8 tracks and I played them sometimes.  Santana Abraxa, Led Zep 2, George Harrison, CCR

Can't remember ever hearing this song, but that is David Sanborn on Saxophone, I'd say circa 1975 or even earlier, definitely off the heels of the Bowie glam rock era ('72/'73).  I could probably name the other musicians if I could see them clearly, and didn't have half a load on ...
