      A question for SEO Guru's

      A question for SEO Guru's:

Let's say you have a long, messy URL That looks like this: (don't click it!)

      http://www.example.com/something/something-else/still-more.cgi&something=crap&youareadufus

I know I can use 301 redirects that would let me use a nice short, clean url.  But when I do this,  the original ugly URL is still displayed.

      So my quesiton is:

      1. How do search engines see it?

      2. Is there a way to show the cleaner version of the URL in the browser so people bookmark it instead of the original messy URL?

      Thanks in advance!

      1. Search engine will display old ugly url, but it will index new url as well. So, both url's are indexed, but only one passing seo juice

      2.Yes, use seo rewrite.

Yes, Mark you should use 301 redirects to shorten and display search engine friendly URLs. Google will likely index both. At Adult SEO Experts http://www.adultseoexperts.org we often do 301 redirects for our clients and it really helpes with ranking and overall search engine traffic.
